Chihuahua begins distribution of 4.4 million free textbooks

The Chihuahua Secretariat of Education and Sport (SEyD), through the State Educational Services of Chihuahua (SEECH), has launched the distribution of more than 4.4 million free textbooks for the 2026-2027 school year. The initiative aims to provide educational materials to 655,619 students across 5,301 schools in the state.

As of mid-August, approximately 93.7% of the total books have been received from the National Commission of Free Textbooks (Conaliteg). While secondary and telesecundaria materials are fully accounted for, some shipments for preschool and primary levels are still pending. The distribution process prioritizes primary education during August due to the high volume of students.

Major distribution hubs include Ciudad Juárez, which will receive over 1.7 million books, and the municipality of Chihuahua, receiving over 1.2 million. Other regional warehouses include Bocoyna, Camargo, Cuauhtémoc, Delicias, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guachochi, Madera, Nuevo Casas Grandes, Ojinaga, and Parral. The new school cycle is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 31.
