Sierra Leone National Revenue Authority targets improved tax mobilisation
The Sierra Leone National Revenue Authority (NRA) is undertaking regional and domestic efforts to enhance revenue mobilisation. In Accra, Ghana, a Sierra Leonean delegation led by Deputy Commissioner General II Edmond B. Nonie is participating in the 8th High-Level Policy Dialogue and 23rd General Assembly of the West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF). The forum focuses on strengthening tax administrations through digital transformation, taxpayer compliance, and regional cooperation.
Domestically, NRA Commissioner General Abu Martin Kanneh held his first stakeholder meeting with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to address revenue compliance in the petroleum sector. Kanneh noted that while petroleum contributes over 50 percent of the NRA’s collected revenue, performance remains below expectations despite reforms from the Finance Act 2026. The discussions centered on improving petroleum volume tracking, payment reconciliation, and accurate reporting to ensure effective revenue collection.
