Sigfrido Ranucci appointed deputy director of RaiNews
Journalist Sigfrido Ranucci has officially joined the RaiNews team as the deputy director of the all-news television channel. In this new role, he has been granted responsibility for in-depth reporting and investigations, including formats such as ‘Spotlight’. While his specific on-camera role remains undefined, he is not currently expected to appear on video.
Ranucci previously worked at the RaiNews newsroom from 1999 to 2006 before moving to the program ‘Report’. His return to the newsroom has reportedly met with mixed reactions from staff, ranging from support to skepticism.
Separately, legal proceedings regarding Ranucci’s removal from ‘Report’ are moving to the merits stage following the rejection of an urgent appeal. The Court of Rome is expected to rule on the matter in the coming months. Additionally, Ranucci’s legal team is preparing an appeal against a ten-day suspension imposed by Rai following a report from the Ethics Committee.
