Sigfrido Ranucci leaves Report after 20 years following rejected legal appeal
Journalist Sigfrido Ranucci has officially left the investigative program Report after 20 years following his removal from the hosting role by Rai in August. A recent ruling by the Rome Labor Court rejected Ranucci’s urgent appeal for reinstatement, citing a climate of tension within the editorial staff caused by media pressure surrounding a specific investigation.
Ranucci expressed his departure through a video on social media, describing the circumstances of his exit as “monstrous” but stating he has no regrets and would continue to defend his principles and free information. He also addressed recent criticisms regarding his past professional ties to Valter Lavitola, denying any wrongdoing and clarifying that he will not run in upcoming political elections.
As Report prepares to return on November 8, the program will undergo a significant leadership change. Claudia Di Pasquale and Daniele Piervincenzi are set to co-host the new season. Meanwhile, journalist Giulia Presutti, who was initially slated to succeed Ranucci, is being reassigned to the program Mi manda Rai Tre.
