Signal Festival illuminates Prague with digital art

The 14th edition of the Signal Festival transformed Prague into an open-air digital art gallery from October 15 to 18. Centered around the theme ‘Dream On! Dreams and Visions’, the festival featured 21 light and audiovisual installations by both Czech and international artists.

Key highlights included works by Jim Campbell, Kurt Hentschläger, and the duo Laurie Anderson and Hsin-Chien Huang. A notable installation by artist Cais, titled ‘Gate of Imagination’, was located near the National Technical Library in Dejvice. This piece utilized geometric shapes and light projections based on words chosen by visitors, with ‘love’ being the most frequent selection.

The festival expanded its reach this year, introducing a new route in the Dejvice district and featuring video mapping on the Old Town Hall tower. The latter showcased a work by Ukrainian artist Svitlana Reinish, referencing the legacy of Václav Havel. Additionally, the Signal Forum international conference addressed themes of freedom and civil society.
