Signify LED technology adopted by Dutch cucumber growers

Two Dutch family businesses, Kwekerij Bolleboom in Bleiswijk and Kwekerij Bazuin in Pijnacker, are investing in Signify’s Philips GreenPower LED toplighting and GrowWise control systems to enhance cucumber cultivation.

Kwekerij Bolleboom is replacing its high-pressure sodium (HPS) lighting with Philips GreenPower LED toplighting force elite 200 µmol. This transition aims to double the light output using the same amount of electricity, allowing for more stable production throughout the year and better management of labor requirements. The company previously reduced lighting due to high energy costs.

Kwekerij Bazuin is also implementing these LED technologies to improve production stability and certainty when delivering to the trade. Both projects are being executed in collaboration with specialized Horti LED partners, Stolze and Hortipar.
