Siirt: 88 people hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning

In the Kurtalan district of Siirt, specifically in the Kayabağlar (Zokayt) town, 88 people have been hospitalized following suspected food poisoning. According to the Kurtalan District Governor's Office, the group includes 77 students and 11 civilians.

Preliminary investigations suggest the illness may be linked to the consumption of chicken wraps (tavuk dürüm) obtained from a local business. Some of these wraps were reportedly purchased directly from the establishment, while others were obtained as packaged items from a school canteen.

Of those affected, 55 individuals received outpatient treatment, while 33 remain under observation or are receiving inpatient care in hospitals. Due to limited capacity in Kurtalan, 18 patients were transferred to hospitals in Siirt. Authorities have taken food samples for laboratory analysis to determine the exact cause, and the owner of the business involved has been taken into custody as part of a judicial investigation.
