Siirt Airport modernization increases annual passenger capacity to 250,000

Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has officially inaugurated the modernized Siirt Airport. The renovation project has significantly expanded the terminal's capacity, increasing the annual passenger limit from 100,000 to 250,000. Key upgrades include expanding the terminal area from 1,062 square meters to 3,135 square meters, enlarging passenger lounges, and increasing VIP and administrative spaces.

In addition to aviation improvements, the Minister highlighted ongoing railway developments in the region. The 34-kilometer Siirt-Kurtalan Railway Project is currently over 30% complete, with a target completion date of 2030. This project, which includes 8 tunnels and 2 viaducts, aims to connect Siirt directly to the national railway network, facilitating the transport of agricultural products and industrial goods.

Uraloğlu also noted that the region has seen significant investment in transportation and communication infrastructure over the last 24 years, totaling 62.5 billion lira.
