Sikandar Siddique faces decision on political eligibility

The Copenhagen City Council is set to make a final decision regarding the political future of Sikandar Siddique, the leader of the Frie Grønne party. The council will formally determine whether Siddique has lost his eligibility to hold office, which would require him to withdraw from the City Council.

The controversy stems from a dispute over Siddique's residency. Following the municipal elections in November, questions arose regarding whether his move from a villa in Herlev to an 18-square-meter room in Nørrebro was a legitimate relocation or a pro forma address intended to facilitate his candidacy in Copenhagen.

Following the annulment of his move by the Copenhagen Municipality and a subsequent loss in a residency case handled by the Ministry of Digital Government, the council is also expected to approve Asham Agha Nadeem as his successor if Siddique is removed.
