Sila Nano secures $300 million to expand Washington battery material plant
Battery materials company Sila Nano announced a $300 million private‑equity round led by Atreides Management and Sutter Hill Ventures, with participation from 8VC, Bessemer Venture Partners, Matrix Partners, T. Rowe Price‑advised funds and others. The capital will accelerate production of the company's silicon‑carbon anode material, branded "Titan Silicon," and fund Phase 2 of its Moses Lake, Washington facility. Phase 1 of the plant, completed in 2025, has a 2 GWh annual capacity; the expansion aims to raise capacity to up to 250 GWh within five years. Sila’s anode technology promises 20‑40 % higher energy density and faster charging versus traditional graphite anodes and already supplies automakers such as Mercedes‑Benz and manufacturers like Panasonic. The funding is intended to strengthen domestic battery material supply and reduce reliance on overseas sources.
The investment underscores growing U.S. focus on advanced battery manufacturing and may boost the domestic EV supply chain.
