Silao, Mexico: Shooting attacks target pedestrians and vendors
A series of fatal shootings has been reported in Silao, Guanajuato. In the Barrio Nuevo neighborhood, a street vendor selling fresh waters and snacks was intercepted by individuals on a motorcycle and shot multiple times on El Obrador Street. The victim died at the scene, and the attackers fled the area.
In a separate incident in the city center, a woman known as “La Güera” was shot and killed at a taco stand located at the intersection of 16 de Septiembre and Guerrero streets. Authorities cordoned off the area to preserve ballistic evidence while the State Attorney General's Office conducted forensic investigations.
Local authorities noted that the homicide in Barrio Nuevo occurred near the site of a previous killing involving a woman identified as “La Flaca.” The State Attorney General's Office and specialized homicide units are investigating the motives behind these attacks and working to identify the perpetrators.
