Warsaw and Silesia prepare for major running events and road closures
Major running events in Poland are set to cause significant traffic disruptions in Warsaw and the Silesian metropolitan area.
In Warsaw, the ‘Biegnij Warszawo’ race and the ‘Maszeruję-Kibicuję’ event will take place on Saturday, October 3. The races will pass through key locations including Rozbrat, Solec, and the Świętokrzyski Bridge, finishing near the Legia Warszawa Municipal Stadium. Significant road closures are planned for Myśliwiecka and Łazienkowska streets, with various other central streets and bridges closing around 11:00, with traffic expected to return by approximately 14:30. Public transport lines will also be diverted.
In the Silesian region, the 17th Silesia Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 4, with the start and finish located at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów. The event, which includes ultramarathons and half-marathons, will involve over 17,000 participants. Extensive road closures will affect Katowice, Mysłowice, Siemianowice Śląskie, and Chorzów. In Katowice, 33 streets and intersections will be closed, with some restrictions lasting until 14:30. Siemianowice Śląskie will host the marathon's longest fan zone between the 35th and 36th kilometers, featuring various musical and sporting attractions.
