Silver Strikers Ladies win CAF qualifier via 2-1 comeback
Silver Strikers Ladies secured a 2-1 comeback victory against Mozambique’s Costa do Sol in their opening Group B match of the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers. The match, held at Gaborone United Stadium in Botswana, saw Costa do Sol take an early lead within 18 seconds through Lucia Moçambique.
Silver Strikers responded in the second half, with defender Ireen Khumalo equalizing via a free-kick in the 68th minute. Following a red card that left Costa do Sol with ten players, Silver Strikers capitalized late in the game when substitute Grace Kakagula scored in the 86th minute to secure the win.
The victory marks a successful debut for the Malawian champions in the regional competition. Silver Strikers will next face Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa and Nsingizini Hotspurs of Eswatini as they compete for a spot in the semi-finals.
