Simon Leviev announces new dating app to prevent fraud

Simon Leviev, the individual popularized by the Netflix documentary ‘The Tinder Swindler’, has announced plans to launch a new dating application called ‘Safe Love’. Leviev, whose real name is Shimon Yehuda Hayut, claims the platform will use facial verification to protect users from fraudulent profiles and romantic scammers like himself.

Leviev, who has previously been convicted of fraud, theft, and forgery in Israel and Finland, describes himself as a ‘rehabilitated man’. He stated in an interview with ITV that he intends to use his past experiences to help users navigate online dating safely and to teach men how to treat women with respect.

The announcement has met with opposition from the Association for Online Dating and Acquaintance. Executive Director Simon Newman stated that the involvement of a convicted fraudster in the industry undermines efforts to combat fraud and could have negative repercussions for both platforms and users.
