Simon Leviev plans to launch Safe Love dating app

Simon Leviev, the individual known as the ‘Tinder Swindler’ from a 2022 Netflix documentary, is planning to launch a new dating platform called Safe Love. Leviev, who was previously convicted of fraud, claims his experience with romance scams provides him with unique insight to develop technology that can prevent similar deceptive behavior.

The proposed app aims to include identity verification, moderation, privacy protection, and financial safeguards to ensure online profiles match the individuals in person. However, the announcement has met significant opposition from the industry.

The Online Dating and Discovery Association (ODDA) has sent a letter to Apple and Google, requesting that they refuse to list or remove any dating application founded or operated by Leviev. ODDA officials warned that allowing a convicted fraudster to operate a dating platform poses a serious risk to users, particularly women.
