Simple Energy launches Simple Wave electric scooter in India

Simple Energy has launched the Simple Wave, a new family-oriented electric scooter in India, with prices starting at ₹1,09,999 (ex-showroom). The lineup features three primary variants—Wave S, Wave, and Wave+—offering six distinct models with battery capacities ranging from 2.2 kWh to 5 kWh. Depending on the configuration, the claimed IDC range varies from 110 km to 243 km.

The scooter is designed for utility, featuring up to 70 litres of total storage, including a 63-litre under-seat compartment and a 4-litre auxiliary ‘pill’ storage unit. It is powered by a 6.4 kW PMSM motor that is reportedly free from heavy rare-earth materials. Deliveries are scheduled to begin on September 25, 2026.

In related industry news, Hyderabad-based power electronics startup Leanwatts has secured $2 million in a seed funding round led by Trivest Partners. The company plans to use the capital to expand its manufacturing capabilities and R&D for EV charging solutions, including portable and onboard chargers for two-wheelers and tractors.
