Simple Energy Wave electric scooter launch

Bengaluru-based EV startup Simple Energy announced the upcoming ‘Simple Wave’ family electric scooter in August 2026. Designed for the commuter segment with a focus on comfort and practicality, the model was intended to be the company’s most affordable offering to date.

On September 2, 2026, the company officially launched the Simple Wave lineup, which consists of six models across three variants: the Simple Wave S, Simple Wave, and Simple Wave+. Prices for the series start at approximately ₹1.09 lakh to ₹1.10 lakh (roughly $1,200). The range features battery capacities from 2.2 kWh to 5 kWh, providing a certified range between 110 km and 243 km. The top-tier Wave+ model reaches a top speed of 90 km/h.

A key technical highlight is the 6.4 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor, which the company claims is the first in India to be “free from heavy rare-earth materials”. For practicality, the scooter offers up to 70 litres of total storage, including a 63-litre under-seat compartment and a 4-litre auxiliary ‘pill’ storage pod. High-end versions include advanced features such as traction control, regenerative braking, hill-start assist, a reverse mode, and a walk mode. The vehicle is built with a steel tube frame, 12-inch wheels, and a combination braking system (CBS). Connectivity features include a 7-inch TFT display on higher trims, Bluetooth integration, and navigation via the Simple Connect app. The flagship Wave+ variant supports fast charging, capable of reaching 0-80% in approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Simple Energy aims to scale its monthly production from roughly 3,000 units to 10,000 units by March 2027 to compete with established players such as Ola Electric and TVS Motor. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the last week of September, specifically starting September 25, 2026.
