Simple Minds announces new album and 50th anniversary tour

Scottish rock band Simple Minds has announced the release of their new studio album, ‘Sacrosanct’, scheduled for January 29, 2027, via BMG. The announcement includes the debut of the first single, ‘Beginner Boys’, which features a visualizer. The album marks the 50th anniversary of the band’s career and follows their previous works, ‘Walk Between Worlds’ (2018) and ‘Direction Of The Heart’ (2022).

To celebrate this milestone, the band is launching the ‘V Tour 2027’, described as their largest arena tour to date. The tour is set to begin in February 2027 in Australia and New Zealand, eventually traveling through the United Kingdom, Europe, and other regions. Specific dates include stops in Madrid at the Movistar Arena on April 7, 2027, with support from the British funk-soul-pop group Level 42. Other planned European locations include Portugal, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands.

The album’s visual identity features a steel sculpture of the band’s logo, created in collaboration with Scottish sculptor Andy Scott. Vocalist Jim Kerr noted that the title ‘Sacrosanct’ reflects the deep connection the founding members have developed through five decades of songwriting.
