Simplon production company files for second restructuring

The production company behind the Austrian premium bicycle brand Simplon, 2Rad Produktions GmbH, has filed for restructuring for the second time within two years. The application was submitted to the Feldkirch Regional Court on September 2, 2026.

The company faces liabilities totaling 33.4 million euros, which affects approximately 150 creditors and 54 employees at its location in Hard, Vorarlberg. Of this debt, 28.3 million euros stems from claims related to a previous failed restructuring plan.

Management cited several factors for the financial instability, including shortages of critical components that prevented timely deliveries and subsequent loss of orders. Other contributing factors include issues with a key supplier and a continued weakness in the European bicycle market.
