Sinaloa Governor Launches Free Rural Clinics Under IMSS Bienestar

Governor Yeraldine Bonilla Valverde of Sinaloa announced a new IMSS Bienestar initiative to establish free medical consultorios in small, remote communities that lack health centres or hospitals. The plan, discussed during a meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum, will provide primary‑care visits by general physicians and on‑site dispensing of prescription medicines at no cost.

The state government has already identified suitable locations, especially in mountainous towns, and will prepare the facilities using federal funds earmarked for the programme. The aim is to improve access to health services for families living far from larger cities.

The project is part of a broader effort to expand IMSS Bienestar coverage nationwide, with the federal government pledging resources for construction where needed.
