Sinaloa officials seek increased funding and infrastructure for displaced families

The Secretariat of Welfare and Sustainable Development (Sebides) in Sinaloa is requesting an additional 20 million pesos for its 2027 budget. Francisco Javier Barrón Aguayo, head of Sebides, stated that the goal is to increase the annual budget from 75 million to 95 million pesos to complete land development projects and expand the number of beneficiaries for families displaced by violence.

Currently, the agency has 3,619 people registered in its displaced persons database. Under instructions from Governor Graciela Domínguez Nava, Sebides will conduct a municipality-by-municipality survey to update this registry and more accurately determine the number of displaced individuals in the state.

In Mazatlán, the City Council has approved the donation of two plots of land to the Secretariat of Public Education and Culture (SEPyC) to support displaced families living in the CVIVE residential area. The donation includes a 564.40-square-meter plot for a preschool and a 1,664.96-square-meter plot for an elementary school. These permanent facilities aim to replace the mobile classrooms currently used by children in the settlement.
