Sinaloa reports 690 dengue cases in 2026

Sinaloa has recorded 690 confirmed cases of dengue across its 20 municipalities so far in 2026. In the municipality of Salvador Alvarado, health authorities have identified 20 confirmed cases—including one severe case and six with warning signs—alongside 36 probable cases.

Health officials, including Gerardo Kenny Inzunza Leyva and epidemiologist Macondo Montoya Parra, have noted that recent rains have increased mosquito presence. While fumigation is being utilized, experts emphasize that it is not a definitive solution because it only targets adult mosquitoes for a short duration and does not eliminate eggs or larvae.

Authorities are urging citizens to participate in 'descacharrización' (removing discarded objects that collect water) to break the life cycle of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. In Salvador Alvarado, cleanup efforts have already removed 126 tons of debris from yards and streets this year. Health departments are also coordinating fumigation and the application of larvicides in homes to prevent further spread.
