Sinch Neurosurgery Congress to be held in Catania
The 75th National Congress of the Italian Society of Neurosurgery (Sinch) is scheduled to take place in Catania from September 23 to 26, 2026. The event, themed ‘Complexity and simplicity in neurosurgery: from anatomy to surgical technique, to technologies and artificial intelligence’, will feature over 700 scientific studies, 95 sessions, and more than 30 international speakers.
Key topics include pathologies of the brain, spinal cord, vertebral column, and peripheral nerves. The congress will highlight technological advancements such as image-guided systems, three-dimensional visualization, minimally invasive surgery, and the integration of artificial intelligence in neurosurgical practice.
A major focus of the discussions will be awake brain surgery, a complex procedure where patients perform tasks like speaking or moving to help surgeons monitor language and motor functions in real time. Sinch President Domenico d’Avella emphasized that while technology provides essential tools for precision and protection of neurological functions, it must ultimately serve to provide concrete benefits to the patient.
