Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah rejects calls for province division

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has rejected calls for the division of the Sindh province, asserting that any decision regarding its territorial integrity rests solely with the elected members of the Sindh Assembly. Addressing a session of the provincial assembly, Shah stated that the province will not be divided by ‘businessmen from Lahore,’ courts, or public rallies, but rather through formal debate and resolutions within the legislature.

Shah noted that the assembly has a history of opposing such division, citing resolutions passed in 1948, 2000, 2014, 2019, and 2026. He emphasized that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would continue to defend the unity of the province and invited the opposition to bring a resolution to the floor if they possessed the courage to do so.

Additionally, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon criticized MQM-P leader Mustafa Kamal, accusing him of attempting to incite ethnic differences and political hatred through calls for new administrative units.
