Sindh CM seeks Huawei partnership for Karachi smart city projects

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah is leading a high-level delegation to China to pursue a comprehensive bilateral investment plan and technological partnerships. During visits to Hubei Province and Wuhan, the Chief Minister proposed a partnership with Huawei to develop a smart city operations platform for Karachi. This initiative aims to address urban challenges such as flood forecasting, emergency response, traffic congestion, water management, and solid waste disposal through data-driven systems.

The Chief Minister emphasized a desire for long-term cooperation involving technology transfer and local expertise training rather than simple equipment procurement. Additionally, Shah sought collaboration in pharmaceutical manufacturing with Humanwell Healthcare Group and explored opportunities in artificial intelligence and smart governance.

Beyond technology, the delegation is discussing cooperation in trade, culture, and tourism. The Sindh government also plans to organize an investment conference in Shanghai to engage Chinese state-owned companies and promote investment opportunities across the province.
