Singapore Airlines to update iconic flight attendant footwear
Singapore Airlines is set to retire the open-toed sandals traditionally worn by its female cabin crew, marking a rare change to the iconic Pierre Balmain-designed sarong kebaya uniform. The airline confirmed that the footwear will be replaced by closed-toe leather wedge shoes featuring the signature batik motif.
Developed in collaboration with local footwear brand PAZZION, the new shoes are designed to enhance safety, comfort, and support during long hours of wear while maintaining the airline’s polished silhouette. The project involved 31 months of development and multiple prototype tests on flights. A full rollout of the new footwear is scheduled to begin in January 2027.
