Singapore Airlines cabin crew uniform footwear update
Overview
Singapore Airlines has announced plans to phase out the open-toed sandals traditionally worn by female cabin crew as part of their Pierre Balmain-designed sarong kebaya uniform. The footwear will be replaced by closed-toe leather wedge shoes featuring the airline’s signature batik motif.
Developed over 31 months in collaboration with local brand PAZZION, the new shoes are designed to improve safety and comfort. Features include a widened toe box, padded backs, and cushioned insoles to protect crew members from spills and falling objects. The transition, which aims to allow staff to wear a single pair of shoes throughout their duties, is scheduled for a full rollout beginning in January 2027.
