Singapore businesses increase energy investment to bolster resilience

A report by Schneider Electric indicates that 94% of surveyed Singapore businesses intend to increase their energy investments over the next 12 months. This surge in spending is driven by a need for energy resilience, with 97% of organizations expressing concern regarding their ability to remain resilient during a potential energy crisis. This anxiety follows a 17.5% increase in regulated electricity tariffs in the third quarter of 2026.

Separately, the Singlife-SGFIN Sustainable Future Index highlights a gap between sustainability awareness and practical action among Singaporeans. While awareness is high, consumers face barriers such as cost, convenience, and accessibility. The study found that individuals have adopted an average of 10 out of 25 measured sustainability actions, though many express an intention to adopt more in the coming year. Experts suggest that businesses and financial institutions play a critical role in making sustainable choices more affordable and accessible to bridge this gap.
