Singapore businesses forecast $9.8 million AI ROI amid readiness gaps

A SAP‑commissioned study of 200 Singapore firms found that 89 % see agentic AI as having moderate to high potential for organisational transformation, yet only 2 % consider themselves fully prepared. The report projects a cumulative return on investment of US$9.8 million from agentic AI over the next two years, with overall AI currently supporting 27 % of business tasks and expected to rise to 47 % in that period. Only 45 % of companies have a dedicated AI leader, 32 % set AI‑related KPIs and 37 % provide training on AI capabilities and risks.

In the finance sector, the Monetary Authority of Singapore announced that it will publish binding guidelines for the risk management of agentic AI by the fourth quarter of 2026, giving banks twelve months to demonstrate compliance. A Forrester survey of 105 Singapore finance decision‑makers highlighted scaling challenges: 64 % cite fragmented data as a core barrier, 86 % report AI is already used in finance workflows and 18 % employ autonomous AI for tasks such as bookkeeping and reporting.

These findings illustrate strong confidence in AI’s economic upside in Singapore, contrasted with significant gaps in data, talent and governance that could limit realisation of the projected benefits.
