Singer EJAE cites Leonardo DiCaprio as cause of nerves during BAFTA performance

Singer EJAE, a vocalist for the fictional pop trio Huntr/x from the Netflix animated film ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’, revealed that she felt intimidated by Leonardo DiCaprio during a performance at the BAFTA Awards.

In an interview with The Times, EJAE explained that seeing DiCaprio sitting directly in front of her with a serious expression caused her to lose focus. This nervousness led to vocal mistakes, specifically cracking on high notes during the performance of the song ‘Golden’. The event marked the first time the song was performed outside the United States.

DiCaprio was attending the London ceremony as a nominee for Best Actor for ‘One Battle After Another’. Despite the performance jitters, ‘Golden’ achieved significant success, later winning an Oscar and a Grammy, with EJAE recognized as one of its songwriters. EJAE also noted a positive encounter with Beyoncé and Jay-Z at a subsequent afterparty.
