EJAE performance incident at BAFTA Awards

Singer EJAE, a vocalist for the fictional pop trio HUNTR/X from the Netflix production ‘KPop Demon Hunters’, reported experiencing vocal difficulties during a performance at the 2026 BAFTA Awards in London. Performing the track ‘Golden’ alongside Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna, EJAE stated in an interview with The Times that the presence of actor Leonardo DiCaprio in the audience contributed to her nerves.

EJAE explained that seeing DiCaprio, who was attending the ceremony as a nominee for Best Actor for ‘Another Battle After’, sitting directly in front of her with a serious expression caused her to lose focus and crack on certain high notes. This event marked the first time ‘Golden’ was performed outside the United States.

While EJAE expressed personal dissatisfaction with the performance, online viewers provided positive reactions regarding the authenticity of the live vocals. Despite the performance mishap, the song ‘Golden’ achieved significant success, including winning both an Oscar and a Grammy, with EJAE credited as one of its composers. EJAE also noted a positive encounter with Beyoncé and Jay-Z at a subsequent afterparty.
