Singer Nicla Ozenda pauses career for vocal cord surgery

Singer Nicla Ozenda, a performer on the program ‘La ruota della fortuna’, is taking a hiatus to undergo surgery for a cyst on her vocal cords. The 24-year-old artist announced her temporary departure during a broadcast on October 19, an announcement that visibly moved host Gerry Scotti.

Ozenda explained that she initially attempted to manage the condition while continuing to work, believing the issue could be resolved gradually. However, a diagnosis in September necessitated medical intervention. She anticipates a recovery period of three to four months following the procedure. In her absence, Alice Piombino will step in to perform on the show.

Ozenda also addressed her professional relationship with Scotti, describing him as “super human” and noting that he has treated her as a colleague since she joined the program eighteen months ago. The singer noted that the transition to television has been a significant personal and professional challenge, particularly as she navigated online criticism regarding her voice before her medical diagnosis was made public.
