Desant Festival launches in Jajce with four days of music and cultural events across Croatia

The seventh edition of the Desant Festival opened on 30 July in Jajce, Bosnia‑and‑Herzegovina, offering a four‑day programme that blends traditional sevdalinka, world‑music, pop and electronic sets. Highlights include Damir Imamović and Zanin Berbić opening the festival, Austrian ensemble WIADAWÖ performing on the Katakomb platform, pop star Severina headlining the main concert beneath Pliva waterfall on 1 August, and DJ Damjan Eltec closing the event on 2 August. The festival is sponsored by Inova and supported by the Bosnian Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism.

In Croatia, the historic reenactment Uskočki boj za Klis 2026 was staged at Klis Fortress, portraying the 16th‑century defence led by Petar Kružić against the Ottomans. The performance involved nearly 200 participants and was livestreamed across the country.

Split’s cultural season continued with Siniša Vuković presenting his books on the operas Aida and Nabucco, noting that the Italian masterpiece has been performed on the Peristil open‑air stage 80 times, most recently in 2026. The opera’s legacy remains a hallmark of the city’s summer program.

The mobile literary‑audio project Hrvatski zvukopis held two free events on Brač’s Bobovišća villages on 2‑3 August, blending readings, theatre and a sound‑map of the island, with participation from writers and actors.

At the Dujmovača theatre, the premiere of the play Herscht 07769 — based on Lászla Krasznahorka’s novel and directed by Ivica Buljan — attracted notable figures from Split’s cultural and political circles.
