Sinj signs contract to finish horse‑riding hall and avert €5 million penalty

The city of Sinj in Croatia signed a contract with a selected construction firm to complete the Interpretacijski Edukacijski Centar (IEC), a horse‑riding hall that has been non‑functional for years. The agreement obliges the hall to be operational by 31 December 2026, thereby preventing an additional €5 million penalty that could have led the municipality toward bankruptcy.

Mayor Miro Bulj said the city allocated €450,000 from its budget, prepared a detailed cost estimate, and conducted a transparent public procurement process. The deal also resolves numerous earlier complaints about the stalled project, which had already cost the city more than €1.5 million in penalties.

Local officials, including Deputy Mayor Denis Bobeta and heads of municipal departments, attended the signing, emphasizing that completing the hall will preserve a key regional asset and protect residents from further financial losses.
