Sintra expands healthcare through new hospital and mental health program

Healthcare capacity is expanding in the Sintra region of Portugal through new clinical infrastructure and mental health initiatives.

Hospital Lusíadas Beloura has opened in Sintra following a 40 million euro investment. The facility covers approximately 9,500 square meters and is designed to serve the western Lisbon Metropolitan Area, including Cascais and Oeiras. The hospital employs roughly 500 professionals and features 41 outpatient consultation rooms, two operating rooms, 18 examination rooms, and 27 inpatient beds. It aims to perform over 100,000 consultations and 4,000 surgeries annually, offering specialties such as cardiology, pediatrics, and orthopedics.

Additionally, the Sintra Municipality has approved a protocol with the Sintra Delegation of the Portuguese Red Cross to implement a mental health program. This partnership focuses on increasing access to psychological care for children, adolescents, and adults, aiming to provide specialized support and promote well-being within the municipality.
