Sicily regional updates: Catania urban projects and election news

Various regional developments are occurring across Sicily. In Catania, City Council President Sebastiano Anastasi described the upcoming presentation of the Corso Martiri della Libertà urban redevelopment project as the ‘point zero’ for municipal debate. He also noted ongoing requests for clarity regarding the privatization of the SAC.

In the political sphere, Cateno De Luca and the Sud chiama Nord movement presented eight new candidates for the upcoming regional elections in Catania. De Luca stated the strategy involves building three competitive lists intended to collectively exceed a 20% threshold.

In Siracusa, the Fsi-Usae union has raised alarms regarding the inactivity of the 118 emergency medical station in Ortigia, blaming the governance of the Provincial Health Authority (Asp) for the lack of medical personnel. Meanwhile, the ‘Streghe d’Estate’ awards were presented in Siracusa to recognize female empowerment in education. In Belvedere, a scenic reading is scheduled to honor the spiritual legacy of Sister Chiara Di Mauro. Additionally, the Chilivani Hippodrome hosted its sixth summer racing day, featuring notable performances by Ienry Mouth and Divina Lupa.
