Siracusa hosts major religious events in June 2026

On 5 June 2026 the Sanctuary of Madonna delle Lacrime in Siracusa took part in the 11th edition of the Lunga Notte delle Chiese. The programme began at 18:30 with a Holy Mass followed by an Eucharistic procession, centred on the theme “Francesco, va’ e ripara la mia casa”, encouraging solidarity and communal renewal.

From 19 to 21 June 2026 the city will hold a three‑day prayer initiative “Con San Sebastiano per una pace disarmata e disarmante”. The event, organized by the Metropolitan Parish of the Nativity of Mary and the San Sebastiano Committee, will open the niche housing the saint’s simulacrum at Santa Lucia alla Badia. Daily celebrations include Masses presided over by local bishops and the municipal police, reflections on peace, and a “Voci per la Pace” gathering of civil and military representatives.
