Sisalril expands occupational disease coverage in Dominican Republic
The Superintendency of Health and Occupational Risks (Sisalril) has introduced a new Schedule of Occupational Diseases in the Dominican Republic through Resolution 00270-26. This update expands the coverage of the Occupational Risk Insurance (SRL) by linking medical diagnoses directly to specific job functions.
For the first time in the country, the coverage includes conditions related to psychosocial factors, such as depressive disorders, burnout syndrome, and non-organic sleep disorders. The new schedule also incorporates various types of occupational cancers, including those affecting the lungs, larynx, stomach, liver, kidneys, bladder, prostate, skin, and bones.
Other included pathologies cover respiratory, musculoskeletal, renal, hepatic, hematological, endocrine, reproductive, and vascular systems. The diseases are organized into seven groups based on their originating risks, detailing the causal agents and the specific work activities involved. The Dominican Institute for the Prevention and Protection of Occupational Risks (Idoppril) will manage the medical costs and disability registrations associated with these recognized conditions.
