Sistan and Baluchestan healthcare receives infrastructure and emergency service boost

The Iranian government is implementing several initiatives to improve healthcare access and infrastructure in the Sistan and Baluchestan province. Key measures include a $25 million allocation to address medical costs and the expansion of health services to remote and border regions to reduce the gap between underserved and developed areas.

Mohammad Reza Zafarkandi, the Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education, announced plans to add 50 ambulances to the national emergency fleet to address existing shortages. The ministry is also working to complete health houses across the province within the next two to three years.

To ensure the stability of medical services, the government is focusing on the family physician program and a formal referral system to organize patient care from rural centers to hospitals. Additionally, officials are addressing human resource challenges by seeking to provide better livelihood support for physicians who serve in these disadvantaged regions.
