Sistan region experiences severe storms with winds exceeding 100 km/h
Severe storms have struck the Sistan region of northern Sistan and Baluchestan for a second consecutive day. Wind speeds in Zabol reached 101 km/h, while Hamun recorded 90 km/h and Zehak reached 75 km/h. These high winds have significantly reduced horizontal visibility to approximately 2,000 meters in several areas.
Mohsen Heydari, the Director General of Meteorology for Sistan and Baluchestan, stated that while the intensity of the storm is expected to decrease starting Monday, strong winds and dust storms are likely to persist in the northern part of the province until the end of the week. Dust and wind are also forecasted for Zahedan and central areas of the province.
Authorities have issued warnings for citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and to exercise caution on the roads. Recommendations have also been made for farmers to take precautions and for residents to secure greenhouse covers, temporary roofs, and advertising signs to mitigate potential damage. Local offices in the Sistan region were closed due to the orange meteorological warning.
