Turkey's ÇAYKUR accelerates second tea procurement campaign
On 8 July 2026, the Turkish Tea Enterprises General Directorate (ÇAYKUR) launched the second round of its fresh‑tea purchase programme. Since the start, producers have delivered a total of 169 000 tonnes of young tea, which is now being processed into black tea at ÇAYKUR factories.
The first round, which ended on 28 June, was followed by a reopening of the factories and the continuation of a scheduled‑appointment system to manage intake volumes. High levels of mechanised harvesting have created temporary bottlenecks at some collection points, but factories are operating extended shifts to keep the tea moving through the processing line and preserve quality. ÇAYKUR says the programme will remain active in the coming weeks, matching collection capacity with regional harvest conditions.
The campaign aims to stabilise supply for Turkey’s domestic tea market and support growers during the peak harvest period.
