Sivas begins grain harvest as leading oat producer

The grain harvest season has commenced in Sivas, a major agricultural hub in Turkey. During a program held in İnceyol village organized by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, local officials joined farmers to mark the start of the barley and wheat harvest.

Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek participated in the event by operating a combine harvester. He noted that favorable rainfall this year has contributed to a productive season. Şimşek highlighted the province's significant standing in national production, noting that Sivas ranks first in Turkey for oat production with approximately 42,000 tons, second in tritikale with 32,000 tons, fourth in barley with 300,000 tons, and fifth in wheat with 500,000 tons.

Regarding economic support, the Governor stated that the state provided approximately 3.5 billion Turkish Liras in support to farmers in the province last year, emphasizing a commitment to increasing these resources to bolster agricultural potential.
