Sivasagar administrative staff protest MLA Akhil Gogoi's alleged misconduct

Administrative employees in Sivasagar staged a protest and a pen-down strike to condemn the alleged misbehaviour of Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi toward District Commissioner Mridul Yadav. The incident reportedly occurred during a discussion regarding the distribution of flood relief grants.

According to reports, the dispute arose when Gogoi allegedly demanded the inclusion of 2,000 additional beneficiaries for a Rs 15,000 government relief grant. District Commissioner Yadav stated that he was following established administrative policies and rules, but claimed the MLA misbehaved and intimidated him in public.

Members of the All Assam District Administrative Employees’ Association expressed that while they do not oppose the MLA’s efforts to assist flood-affected citizens, they strongly condemn his conduct toward the district administration. Employees noted that many of them have been working continuously since July to assist those affected by floods, even while their own homes were submerged. The protesters wore black bands and indicated they intend to send a formal letter to the MLA regarding his actions.
