Six Men Charged in Malaysia Kidnapping Case Demanding RM7 Million
Six men, aged between 30 and 46, appeared at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate Court in armed police escort to face charges of kidnapping a 44‑year‑old man and demanding a RM7 million ransom. The kidnapping occurred on 17 July, and the victim was rescued by police in a special operation at a residential unit in i‑City, Shah Alam, early the next morning.
The suspects will be prosecuted under Section 3(1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961. Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Datuk M. Kumar Muthuvelu, said that eight individuals were initially detained in connection with the case; the investigation files have been forwarded to the Attorney‑General’s Chambers and the prosecution direction has been issued. Two additional suspects – a woman and a man – have been released on bail and will act as witnesses for the trial.
