SK Dengkil student dies after choking incident at school
A seven-year-old Year One student, Damiyah Nur Mikayla, has passed away after reportedly choking on food while at Sekolah Kebangsaan Dengkil in Sepang, Malaysia.
According to the victim's father, Mior Shahrizal Mior Zakaria, the child was found unconscious in a second-floor corridor. He attempted to perform CPR before an ambulance arrived, but the child did not respond. Medical professionals indicated that the child's airway was likely obstructed by food, possibly banana or chicken, which could not be removed.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek expressed her condolences to the family and has instructed the Selangor State Education Department to ensure the family's welfare is addressed. The department is cooperating fully with authorities to investigate the incident. The student was pronounced dead at Putrajaya Hospital following initial first aid attempts by teachers.
