SK Telecom deploys 5G private network for Hana Financial Group

SK Telecom, in collaboration with Hana Financial Group and Samsung Electronics, has established the financial sector’s first 5G private network-based smart office at the Hana Financial Group Cheongna Headquarters. The project covers 16 floors of office and common spaces, serving approximately 3,000 employees across 10 affiliates.

The implementation aims to transition from a traditional wired, fixed-seat environment to a hybrid workspace. By utilizing dedicated frequencies allocated by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the private 5G network allows employees to access internal business networks via laptops or tablets without being tethered to specific desks or wired connections. This eliminates the need for repetitive wiring work during office reconfigurations.

To meet strict financial security requirements, the system incorporates multi-layered security measures, including 5G wireless encryption, subscriber information encryption, firewalls, DDoS response systems, and USIM-based authentication. Samsung Electronics provided the enterprise 5G core and radio solutions. The infrastructure is designed for future scalability, with potential integration for AI-driven services, smart building technologies, AI CCTV, and mobile employee IDs.
