SKAI wins TV rights for Greek Basket League in €25 million deal
The Greek sports media group SKAI has been awarded the television broadcast rights for the Stoiximan Greek Basket League (GBL) for a 2+1‑year period, replacing ERT as the league’s main broadcaster. The contract is valued at approximately €25 million, with €21 million earmarked for direct distribution to the clubs. Payments are scheduled at €6.35 million for the first season and €7.35 million for each of the next two seasons.
The agreement was approved unanimously by the ESAKE board, with all 14 club representatives voting in favour. It is described as one of the largest commercial deals in the history of Greek professional basketball, providing significant financial support to teams such as Panathinaikos, which is slated to receive about €1.5 million. The deal also includes a clause allowing ESAKE to consider better offers in the third season, giving SKAI the option to match any competing proposal.
