Skanska begins construction of new Prague bypass bridge

Construction has started on a new bypass segment of the Prague Ring Road between Běchovice and the D1 highway. The project, led by Skanska, includes the first bridge of the scheme, a concrete span with a planned total of 23 bridges across the 12.5‑km route. Work involves laying the first hundreds of metres of asphalt on a provisional bypass at Ke Křížkám street, building embankments, noise‑reducing walls and six grade‑separated intersections. Modern technology such as drone‑based surveying and 3‑D machine control is being used. The bypass is expected to divert up to 12,000 vehicles per day, easing congestion on the current road and shortening travel between Kolín and Prague. The total cost is estimated at 3.78 billion Czech crowns (net of VAT), with completion targeted for 2028.
