Skechers to build massive automated logistics center in Belgium

US footwear manufacturer Skechers is significantly expanding its European logistics capabilities by constructing a new highly automated distribution center in Liège, Belgium. The facility will span approximately 230,000 square meters and is designed to accommodate over 3.3 million storage locations.

To manage the facility, Skechers has partnered with Austrian automation specialist KNAPP. The project will feature one of the world’s largest Evo-Shuttle systems and an integrated intralogistics platform managed by KNAPP’s KiSoft software. The center is intended to handle a monthly volume of up to ten million pairs of shoes, reducing reliance on manual processes.

The investment aims to address capacity constraints at the company’s existing distribution center in Milmort. Skechers has utilized the Wallonia region as a strategic base for over 23 years. Initial operations are expected to begin serving the European market by late 2028, with a full go-live scheduled for mid-2030.
