Skien police conduct speed checks and clear E18 traffic stoppages

Police in Skien carried out two speed‑check operations this week. On Bjørntvedtvegen, a 70 km/h zone, eight drivers were fined after one was recorded at 94 km/h. A later check on Amtmand Aalls gate, a 50 km/h zone, resulted in seven fines, the highest speed recorded at 69 km/h.

The nearby E18 highway experienced two temporary closures near the Telemarksporten interchange. The first was caused by a stalled car towing a caravan, creating a 10‑15 minute delay that later cleared. The second stoppage occurred when a person lay in the road; ambulance services removed the individual and traffic resumed.

Additional police actions included responding to an alleged axe threat in Kragerø, where no injuries were reported, and a water rescue at Skåtøy where a person was lifted from the sea and air‑lifted to Telemark Hospital. All incidents were managed without serious injury.
